Two Faced Shadow Insurance

0

After many many recommendations that I absolutely needed to try Too Faced Shadow Insurance I picked myself up some and headed home to try it out! For those of you who don’t know, Too Faced Shadow Insurance is a eye shadow primer that you apply to your eye lids before applying eye shadow, to keep you eye shadow in place all day long.

As you know, i’ve been suffering with a black eye (from bashing it when moving furniture – no I wasn’t in a fight!) so the make up intention has mostly been HIDE ITand little else. Now it’s almost gone and very easy to cover up.

Last night my wonderful boyfriend took me out for dinner so I did the purple eye make up look that I videoed a few weeks back. I thought last night was the perfect time to try it out.

I only put the tiniest amount on my finger and it gave me perfect coverage. I think that’s key with this product, less is definitely more. The tiniest blob gives you a great amount of coverage, so there really is no need to layer it on.

So does it do what it says on the tin?

It does. I was very impressed with how well it kept my eye shadow in place, no creasing or flaking, and when I went to bed my eye shadow was in exactly the same place as when I went out. It looked no different, not even any fading!

So top marks for Too Faced Shadow Insurance!

Mac: Plush Lash

0

First there was mascara, then there was Plush Lash. Then it was good.

Mac’s Plush Lash is the most amazing mascara I have ever tried, and I have tried a lot.

It took me a long time to finally build up to buying it. I had heard a million and one reviews on it, with everyone who reviewed it giving it a rave. Finally, a mascara that does what it says it will. Plush Lash claims to lengthen your lashes, as so many do, but the different with Plush Lash is…it succeeds.

With just one coat of Plush Lash my lashes gain some serious length, and its really up to you how crazy you wish to go with it, but one things for sure, whether you just want a natural extended look or you want to build yourself some crazy lashes Plush Lash is the mascara for the job.

Plush Lash retails for around £12 and is well worth every penny (infact, I think they could probably charge more and it would still fly off the shelves!)

What I love about it is not only its amazing lengthening qualities, but also it longitivity (it lasts all day) and that it doesn’t smudge or flake.

This really is a wonder product, and I guarantee, your life is empty without it. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll never go back!

Expiration Dating: Are your products lingering around for too long?

0

Hey Guys, Happy Monday!

We pay close attention to dates on our food, not daring to buy something if its even 5 minutes out of date, so why don’t we apply the same logic when it comes to our make up?

We’re all guilty of it, keeping products way longer than we should have, some of you might not even be aware that make up has a ‘date’ on it. But by not getting rid of products when they are out of date we’re all risking skin complaints from bacteria forming in our products.

Sounds gross doesn’t it? Maybe it might be time for us all to have a bit of a clear out…

Mascara & Liquid Liner: This is probably one of the few make up truths you will have heard about, your mascara and liquid liner. Really you shouldn’t keep these for longer than 3-4 months, and this is because of the nature of the products. The brushes are dragged across your eyes and in and out of the bottle/pot. The simple pumping action you apply to your bottle of mascara really does push bacteria down in the product with every pump…this is then transferred to your eyes.

Liquid Foundation: Liquid foundation usually has a life span of around 2 years, however if your bottle has a pump dispenser be sure to keep this clean to avoid any bacteria forming around this area. Because this product is water based this draws bacteria to it. Another thing, keep an eye out for a change in colour or scent, as this can mean the product has gone off.

Powder Foundation: This has a life span of 2 years.

Eye Shadow: Eye Shadow is probably something we all keep in our collections for the longest of times, but did you know that Eye Shadow should only really be kept for 3 months. There is a high risk of bacteria transfer between the product and your eyes.

Lipstick: Lipstick is one of those products that really you can tell when it is past its prime because it will go hard, but this should be no longer than two years. Its harder for bacteria to grow on lipstick as it has no water content.

I hope that was helpful to you guys,

Thanks for reading!

Benefit-Lemon-Aid

Benefit: Lemon Aid

My first thought when trying out Benefit’s Lemon Aid, was ‘WOW’. When it comes to trying out these so called miracle products I am always a bit wary of whether they are actually going to work, but with Benefit I must say, I am never disappointed.

Lemon Aid is for waking up your eyelids, for covering eyelid redness and discolouration and aims to leave your eyes looking refreshed.

I opened the pot, it comes in a small round black container, and inside you have the product on the bottom and in the lid there is a small mirror to help you with application.

To apply you just use your fingers, and pat a small amount of the product on your eyelid and blend. You can wear it alone, or (and this is my favourite part) you can wear it under make up, and it works amazingly well as an eyelid primer.

What amazed me most was the sudden transformation. My eyelids/eyes instantly looked brighter and more wide awake.

This worked amazing on my skin tone (I have a light skin tone), and I am not sure how well it would work on people who have a much darker skin tone, and the results were instant, I actually couldn’t believe the difference!

At £16.50 its not cheap, but if you want to look wide awake or suffer from discolourations/redness on your eyelids then it’ll probably be just the product for you

MAC: Brush Cleanser

If you’re anything like me, you’re as fussy as hell when it comes to keeping things clean, and my make up brushes fall at the top of the pile. Too many times I’ve heard about people who have got repeated skin complaints due to not cleaning their brushes.

Your brushes sit around gathering dust and germs in the air and its so important that you clean them on a regular basis when you’ve been using them.

My favourite product to clean my brushes with is MAC Brush Cleanser which not only cleans the make up off of the brushes but also sterilises them a little too.

Its around £12 which might seem a little steep, but the stuff lasts ever such a long time and it cleans your brushes right through, while keeping them sterile too.
